Steve Miller has more than four decades of experience in capital procurement and supply chain management. His distinguished career includes leading roles in global procurement strategies, business startup and growth initiatives, acquisitions, supply chain management, manufacturing engineering and capital equipment procurement.
As Executive Vice President of Procurement for Unity Aluminum, Steve leads the Global Procurement organization across the entire enterprise, for all direct and indirect sourcing and procurement. This responsibility includes strategic vision, operational planning, and execution. The CPO is directly responsible for material deflation, indirect savings and supplier development and performance, including quality and lead time reliability.
He leads the Company’s evolution in best practice procurement capabilities and organizational development, transforming the organization from one that is locally-driven to one with a center-led, global construct. Where possible, sourcing and procurement activities will be driven from a global perspective to continue to maximize leverage and overall effectiveness of supply.
Steve previously served as Vice President and General Manager for publicly traded Wabash National Corporation, a leading manufacturer of aluminum-sided trailers. During that time, he also created and led IPC, his second industrial purchasing consortium, which grew to an annual purchasing power of more than $4 billion.
Prior to his engagement with Wabash National Corporation, he acted as Senior Director of Strategic Programs for ArvinMeritor, a leading global supplier of solutions for commercial vehicles and industrial markets; he began his illustrious career in 1979 as the Director of Worldwide Indirect Purchasing and Capital Procurement for global power leader Cummins Engine Company. Notably in this role, Steve led a new product introduction team that was directly responsible for obtaining $300 million in capital investments for a new engine platform.
Steve is the author of several supply chain publications, including “Making the Grade,” which covers measurement and sustainability of supplier performance. After graduating from Purdue University with a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering, he has obtained several instructor certifications, including Project Management, New Product Introduction and Lean Six-Sigma Black Belt.
